Who is this course for?

For anyone who wishes to improve their 4 skills both in autonomous ways as well as in group without having the pressure to take tests or get ready for a certificate.

The major goal of this course is to have moments of reflection that will make us grow in two areas: personally and linguistically. Through the power of stories, human beings tend to engage in the process of self reflection and self evaluation. Such stories will work as a springboard to language development, which will aim at C1/C2 content.

How will it work?

Participants will have more than 27 hours of live input throughout the semester, plus optional assignments to be done in their free time. Assignments range from essays, oral presentations and other creative performances.

What will we read?

For 2022, we will be reading Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.

Plot:

‘Heralded as Virginia Woolf’s greatest novel, this is a vivid portrait of a single day in a woman’s life. When we meet her, Mrs. Clarissa Dalloway is preoccupied with the last-minute details of party preparation while in her mind she is something much more than a perfect society hostess. As she readies her house, she is flooded with remembrances of faraway times. And, met with the realities of the present, Clarissa reexamines the choices that brought her there, hesitantly looking ahead to the unfamiliar work of growing old.’
